a gift for john mills

I am so excited about these little guys. My best friend, aka wife Tracy Williford, is blessing us with John Mills Williford this December. If we are lucky, it will be November! Am I the only one who likes for babies to come early?

Tracy and TJ have put together a great nursery! I have to say at first I was a little skeptical because there is a very large queen bed in the middle of the room as well as a gun safe, but the final product works out perfectly! And the new double stroller is perfect for covering up the gun safe - sorry you lost that one Tracy. Tracy asked me to do some paintings for the room. So I stuck with the masculine/neutral theme and let Tracy pick the animals.

Here is the final product:

Deer - because John Mills will hunt...duh

Duck - not too exciting, but, hey, it's a duck

Fish - well...more like a Whale Fish

Sheep - I kinda like this one the best. Looks cuddly.

Here is the whole gang together.

As you can tell by this blog, I have not painted in a while. John Mills gave me some inspiration to get back in that studio and get lost in there. I have an idea for my next attempt - a tribute to Jackson Pollock. He is by far my favorite artist. I fell in love with him during college in an art appreciation class. I don't even remember the other artists I learned about.

Unfortunately, I did not get this inspiration in time to enter something new into this upcoming Denied and Underexposed show. I really like this initiative going on in Montgomery and hope everyone will go out on 11-11-11 and see the show. There are some great pieces to experience and some that will captivate you for a good part of an hour. There is not much information up on their site yet, but keep looking. Location is still to come. You can also find them on Facebook. I think they put more information there than they do the website.

Enjoy this clip my friend David Robertson put together of the last show we did with Denied and Underexposed:

Bad Girl

I know!!! I have not painted in f o r e v e r. I could give you 100 excuses, but it just boils down to not being motivated. And ya know what? I am sick of not being motivated. I think I let my creative eye get a little lazy here lately, but it is all over now. I am looking at everything in a new way. Can I paint it? Can I write about it? Can I make it similar but different? So, you should be seeing some new stuff popping up on this blog here shortly. That is, if you haven't already left me!

Oh! and another thing. I think it is about time to start marketing myself and this blog rather than just talking to cyber air.

Game on.

Denied and Underexposed

There is a great new initiative in Montgomery developed by some young up and coming artists in the area. One main struggle I have found is trying to get exposure and network in Montgomery. We have some really great artists and there does not seem to really be anywhere for the newbies - such as me - to go.

This Friday there is a great event focusing on exposure and networking for all Montgomery artists. It is a great way for artists to get exposure and build their relationships and knowledge of the area and their trades.

The event is open to anyone who is interested. If you are an artist who heard about this a little too late to submit anything, come and see what it is all about. There are plans to grow this initiative into something bigger and maybe even add more events to the year.

I will have two pieces on display and I would love to have your support.

Welcome

I have decided Facebook is just not the best place for me to post my artwork for everyone to view. This blog is created in hopes it will be a lot easier to view and locate my paintings. I have many for sale, but have also posted others that have been sold. If you see any that you like that have been sold, please contact me in the comments section. I would be happy to paint something similar to what has been sold or more specific to what you are looking for. If you would like to leave me your email address in the comments section with any questions, I will be happy to get back in touch with you.

Thank you!
